The Friends’ end-of-year wine-tasting last night was a great success. Good wine flowed, food was plenty, and conversations were lively. Many thanks to Michelle van Staden from the Durbanville Wine Valley who arranged for five wine farms in the area to participate in the evening. Members and guests tasted wines from Meerendal, De Grendel, Nitida, Durbanville Hills and Diemersdal. Thank you to these wine farms and their staff members who dragged their boxes of wines up Tygerberg Hills for us to enjoy! Remember that these wonderful wine farms are right on our doorstep – and the region won the SA Terroir Top Wine Area for 2011. The Durbanville wine valley offers many splendid spots, good wines and fine restaurants to choose from when you’re in need of a good meal and a fine wine over the holidays.

Thanks also to the team of ladies who arranged the snacks: Brieta, Gret, Pearl, Gurli, Dorothy and Desi.
That’s the last monthly talk of the year done, but we look forward to a great start again in February.
We’ve put more photographs on our Facebook page.
